Asis: First Associate Protection Professional (APP) Certifications
ASIS International announces the inaugural group of 150+ individuals to hold its new Associate Protection Professional (APP) certification after successfully passing the beta exam.
ASIS certifications have long been recognized as the mark of excellence in security management. The APP joins the association’s three other globally-esteemed certifications-the Certified Protection Professional (CPP®), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI®), and Physical Security Professional (PSP®).
Developed to meet the needs of new and transitioning security professionals entering the field, the APP serves as the first rung on a security manager’s career leader. Earning the APP demonstrates an individual possesses a solid understanding of knowledge and skills required in security management, including:
• Security management fundamentals
• Business operations
• Risk management
• Response management
"I am incredibly gratified to congratulate the first batch of APP certificants,” says William Moisant, CPP, PSP, president, ASIS Professional Certification Board (PCB). “Developing the APP was a huge undertaking, and the PCB is truly grateful for the commitment of everyone involved. I look forward to the APP joining the CPP, PCI, and PSP certifications as the security industry’s stamp of professionalism across the globe.”
“The APP is designed for those with 1-4 years of security management experience, including those who transition into security careers from military and law enforcement careers. Applications are now being accepted”, they say from Asis International.
Founded in 1955, ASIS International is the world's largest membership organization for security management professionals. With hundreds of chapters across the globe, ASIS is recognized as the premier source for learning, networking, standards, and research. 2019 Asis International President Christina Duffey, CPP, says “ASIS has been working very hard over the past several years on a number of fronts, including an inward look at operations, a review and improvement of member value, and taking a more future focused look at products, services, certification, and research all in an effort to better support and promote the Association and the profession”.
