PASO: PMG1000-V, 1000 W GaN Modular Amplifier Class D

PASO: PMG1000-V

PASO, Italian leading company on the sound-broadcasting and congress system markets, presents PMG1000.
The careful design and choice of highly efficient and reliable components led PASO R&D department to the creation of these new class D amplifiers, equipped with the modern GaN (gallium nitride) technology, which provides high performance in terms of efficiency and space-saving.

FEATURES OF PASO PMG1000-V
The main innovation relating to the use of this cutting-edge technology in the field of PA audio applications is the extreme speed and the ability to operate with high voltages main feature of these new cascode devices; this provides to design amplifiers capable of operating at 300 volts with frequencies of 400 kHz and at the same time, despite the extreme operating conditions, to obtain better performance than those of the equivalent silicon components, which have the limit of working with lower voltages. With these devices, it is also possible to have a 100-volt transformerless output line with a single amplifier (not two bridge amplifiers, as happens instead for silicon devices).

The PMG1000-V amplifiers allow testing correct operation and checking the soundness of the loudspeaker line and a double output circuit with separate controls (A and B) for creating systems featuring line redundancy. If a short-circuit is detected on one of the two outputs, this line is automatically disconnected to enable proper operation of the other. PMG amplifiers, connected directly to the CR8506-V controller by means of CAT5 shielded cable, can be used to create high-power areas.

The upcoming PMG1000-V model consists of four amplifiers capable of delivering 250 W each: parallel connections can be made in five different modes by setting dedicated switches on the rear panel. Standby operation can be set in two different modes (internal standby / external standby).

APPLICATIONS
The PMG1000-V amplifiers can also be used without a PASO PA8500-VES system whenever small layout dimensions combined with great reliability are required. They can be controlled by means of configuring dip-switches on the rear of each unit or by means of a simple RS485 communication protocol, with complete supervision of the loudspeaker line connected to them.

In addition to all the operations and/or checks set locally by means of the dip-switches, it will also be possible to view and modify all the parameters, including the following:
•  reading of the reference impedance for the test
•  minimum and maximum values within which the test is applicable
•  reading of the test status
•  testing of inputs
•  measurement of the temperature of the end transistors
•  volume control
