Waiting for the next edition, selected experts from the security industry discussed important topics at Messe Essen on the 22nd September 2020.

The focus was on. “How can cities become safer, especially in challenging times?”

With the participation of North Rhine-Westphalia’s Minister of the Interior Herbert Reul, they spoke about challenges, protective measures and whether and how the security landscape in German cities must change. Among the attendees were Essen's Lord Mayor Thomas Kufen, Essen’s Police Commissioner Frank Richter, Essen’s Departmental Head of Public Order Christian Kromberg,  Duesseldorf's Police Commissioner Norbert Wesseler, Duesseldorf’s Departmental Head of Public Order Christian Zaum and Cologne's City Director Dr. Stephan Keller.

The RP Economic Forum on Security took place with the support of Security Essen, the international trade fair for security and fire protection. As an international platform of the security industry, Security Essen is the trend-setting showcase for innovations every two years. In 2018 it “presented itself as the leading international source of inspiration for the industry: 950 exhibitors from 43 countries showed their innovations for increased safety and convenience to over 36,000 trade visitors from 125 nations at Messe Essen on topics ranging from cyber security to innovations for building security and new solutions for the protection of valuables”, the organisers said from Messe Essen, at the end of the event.
